Series Star Jon Hamm Addresses the Similarities

Apple TV+'s The Morning Show has been a hit since it premiered in 2019. The show follows the lives of Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston) and Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon), two news anchors who are trying to navigate the changing world of morning television.

One of the most interesting characters on the show is Paul Marks (Jon Hamm), the billionaire owner of UBA News. Marks is a charismatic and enigmatic figure, and he has been compared to real-life tech billionaires like Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hamm addressed the similarities between Marks and Musk. He said that he was aware of the comparisons, but he didn't want to play Marks as a direct copy of Musk.

"I think there are certain similarities between Paul and Elon Musk," Hamm said. "They're both very successful businessmen, they're both very ambitious, and they're both very driven. But I didn't want to play Paul as a direct copy of Elon Musk. I wanted to create my own character, and I wanted to find my own way into the role."

Hamm said that he drew inspiration from a variety of sources when creating the character of Paul Marks.

“I read a lot of biographies of successful businessmen," he said. "I also watched a lot of documentaries about the tech industry. And I talked to a lot of people who work in the tech industry. I wanted to get a sense of what it's like to be a successful businessman today."
